Race Report: Daniel Boone Trails Race Report (2006)
It was a good day to be riding bikes on Sunday. As we were all treated to good conditions and a challenging track. I looked forward to another solid finish at my second Ky. Hare Scramble race this year, but that did not quite happen the way I had pictured it before the start.
I actually got a good jump off of the start and got into second behind Paul Whibley before we got to the technical sections of the track. That is right where I wanted to be, just following Paul and letting him blaze the trail because that was not a track I wanted to be leading on the first lap. He made a couple of mistakes which allowed me to get around a few times, he finally got by me for good when we got to an open area and let me tell you that guy can flat haul the mail in the open stuff. I tried to stay with him, but with all of the rocks in the soil, roost was brutal so I stayed a safe distance behind and was content on learning some stuff from Paul.
That all came to a screeching halt when I through a chain in a creek bed and it took me about ten or twelve minutes to get it back on. I would like to thank those of you who hollered to see if I was okay and my good buddy Whitey for stopping to give me a hand, all the while I was just furious. Things happen, so I just put my head down and rode the rest of the race as hard as I could and tried to make up as much ground as possible. I am not even sure how I finished? It was a great place to ride and I am looking forward to the next one. Thanks to everyone at the KY. Hare Scrambles Series for continuing to do a great job and keep up the good work!
