Race Report: Saddleback Race Report (2006)

This past weekend was Round 7 of the Kentucky Hare Scrambles Series at Saddleback. We were all greeted to a great summer day and a fun, yet challenging track.

My day actually got off to a really good start when I rounded the first turn in second place, which was fine with me because I do not like leading on the first lap. So, I settled into a good pace trying to learn the trail and not miss any corners or fall down. Paul eventually got around me going down a really fast creek bed and began to pick up the pace. I knew that if I could follow him for long enough he would pull me away from the pack behind us. Once we did that, I went to school following his every line just learning how to get comfortable at that pace, while making good decisions going that fast.

I was able to keep him relatively close for a couple of laps until we started getting into lappers. He seemed to pick his way through with no problem, but I had a few close calls trying to stay on his tire. Once Paul got away from me I just maintained a good comfortable pace and enjoyed riding my motorcycle. My game plan worked in the end and I ended up second.

Thanks for putting on such a great event guys!!
